Enjoyable lunch today with our good friend and City Council member Joash Schulman. It was good to relax and reflect on all the good things that are going on in this community. Joining us was David Black, VWU Executive in Residence.
Such a pleasure to host for lunch at DeFord Manor today Capt. Janet Days, recently retired Commanding Officer of Naval Station Norfolk and the new Director of Economic Development in Suffolk. She will be our Commencement Speaker in May. Joining us was David Black, VWU Executive in Residence.
Great to visit with VWU grad Annie Filer Vogt ‘92 at the Downtown Norfolk Council meeting at the Glass Light Hotel & Gallery, Autograph Collection. The site of the meeting is the home of Virginia Wesleyan when chartered in 1961 before moving to our current location in 1966.
My thanks to Thaler McCormick, CEO of ForKids, for giving Cee Cee Tucker and me a comprehensive tour of the ForKids Landmark Center in Chesapeake. Since 1988, ForKids has delivered individualized services designed to achieve stability for children and families in Southeastern Virginia.
Our thanks to Jane Batten; Dr. Michael Hill, President of the Chautauqua Institution; and Bert Schmidt, President of WHRO, for bringing “Chautauqua at 150: Wynton Marsalis’ All Rise” screening event to the Goode Center at VWU.
