Fins Up Fest

More from Fins Up Fest with Abby Mahoney ‘23, volleyball player and Presidential Associate, and Trish Doherty, Administrative Assistant for Athletics.

Welcome, Tyler Costello!

We welcome Tyler Costello to the Virginia Wesleyan University family as Director of Athletic Communications. Tyler joins the Marlin family after serving as Assistant Sports Information Director at Tiffin (OH) University.

Torma's Garden

We were proud to give Barbara Torma Griffin and her husband a tour of Susan Torma Beverly Hall. A few weeks before Susan passed away, Barbara (Susan’s sister in law) had a dream of Susan planting a garden with her family. The flowerbeds directly in front of Beverly Hall, planted with native plants, will now be named the Torma Gardens dedicated in Susan’s memory.

First Five Pioneers Tree

Wonderful celebration of our recognition as the only Arbor Day Foundation Tree Campus in Virginia Beach with the dedication of the First Five Pioneers tree. Just as the first graduating classes planted seeds that have flourished into the international university we know today, so will this tree flourish for future generations of Marlins to enjoy.

Congratulations, Geni Roberts!

Congratulations to Geni Roberts, this year’s recipient of the Norfolk Sports Club Award at the VWU Athletic Awards and Senior Banquet. Geni is a 3x National Runner-Up and 7x All-American in Track & Field events, the most in Marlin history. Well deserved!

"Navigating LGBTQ Identities and Religion"

Proud to serve a campus that hosts deliberative dialogues like tonight’s “Navigating LGBTQ Identities and Religion” with (from left) Director of Campus Ministries Marie Porter, Haygood UMC Pastor Beth Givens, and Spectrum student president Brynna Lister.
