Dear friends, It's the time of year to celebrate achievements, give thanks for our community, and prepare for the new year ahead.
The Marlins IMPACT Scholarship Program continues to provide transformative opportunities for low-income students pursuing STEM degrees, offering up to $44,000 in financial support over four years, along with mentorship, career resources, and hands-on experiences. This initiative reflects VWU’s commitment to fostering diversity and preparing future leaders in critical fields.
The Fall 2024 Marlin Business Conference, "Creating Leaders of Tomorrow," explored the vital, multifaceted roles that leaders play in organizations of all sizes, emphasizing the skills and strategies essential for success in today’s dynamic business environment. The conference was highlighted by a keynote address from Tom Walker, Founder and CEO of DroneUp, who shared his vision for how drone technology is reshaping industries.
Across campus, we are proud to celebrate many achievements this month. Dr. Elizabeth Malcolm, Professor of Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, received the 2024 Libby & Hiter Harris Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award from the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges. Alumnus First Lieutenant Bobby Manzingo delivered an inspiring keynote address at our Veterans Day Ceremony. The women’s volleyball team earned their first NCAA tournament win in program history. Additionally, the University was honored as a Civic 50 Hampton Roads recipient, recognizing its commitment to being one of the most community-minded organizations in the region.
As we enter the holiday season, we take pride in the accomplishments of the VWU community. Together, we look forward to building on this momentum as we close out the calendar year and embrace the opportunities to come. Sincerely, |
