It is with sadness that we share the passing of William Conrad Parker, former softball coach and 2018 inductee into the Marlins Athletic Hall of Fame.
A dedicated educator and coach, Conrad spent 30 years with Virginia Beach City Public Schools, shaping the lives of countless student-athletes across multiple sports at Bayside High School. His leadership guided softball teams to district and regional championships and earned him numerous coaching honors throughout the 1990s.
Following his retirement from public education, Conrad brought that same commitment to our University, leading the softball program from 1998 to 2006. During his tenure, he compiled a 217-156-1 overall record, including a 90-42 conference mark, and led the program to its first unbeaten conference season. His impact extended well beyond wins and losses, mentoring generations of student-athletes and helping to elevate the program’s competitive and academic success. He later served as head golf coach, continuing his commitment to mentoring student-athletes.
We are grateful for Conrad’s contributions to Marlin Athletics and to the broader Coastal Virginia community. Please keep his wife, Nancy, and their family in your thoughts during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
