Sad to learn of the passing of my first presidential mentor, long time colleague and friend – Dr. Paul C. Hayes. Dr. Hayes was President of the University of Rio Grande from 1977 to 1983 and again from 1986 to 1991. Rio Grande Facebook friends will remember him for his transformational, no nonsense leadership style. David Black and I had the opportunity to visit with Dr. Hayes a couple of months ago at his home in Wilmington, Ohio. David and I have always been appreciative of the significant role Dr. Hayes played in our lives.
