A 1961 alumna, Dr. Lewis is currently a professor of neurology at Columbia University Medical Center. After graduating magna cum laude from Bethany, she received her Doctor of Medicine degree from West Virginia University’s School of Medicine. After post-doctoral training, Dr. Lewis began her medical career in New York City as Chief of Neurology Clinics at Presbyterian Hospital.
Dr. Lewis has shared her expertise in various academic roles at Columbia since 1969, including as Senior Associate Dean for Student Affairs. She’s also taken her knowledge abroad – she served as a visiting professor at universities in Israel, Lebanon and Iran.
Dr. Lewis has received many awards throughout her career, including the Distinguished Teacher Award from the College of Physicians and Surgeons and Outstanding Woman Doctor of the Year. She also serves on Bethany’s Board of Trustees.
