Tomorrow at noon on 89.5 WHRV-FM, Another View will address the controversial issue of "white privilege," the second topic in the Race: Let's Talk About It initiative. According to guest Allan G. Johnson, author of "Privilege, Power and Difference," "white privilege" is defined as "any advantage that is unearned, exclusive and socially conferred." On tomorrow's program, Barbara Hamm Lee and her guests will talk about the concept of privilege, if it exists, and how it shapes our society and affects race relations. You will also hear from Carla Johnson who will share her feelings about privilege and race after research and soul searching, and Jonathan Zur, President & CEO of the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, who will share his perspective on how white privilege affects our youth.
On Thursday, November 19 at 6:30 p.m., join us for the next town hall,
"Privilege, Power and Difference." The Town Hall will be held in the
WHRO Studios in Norfolk. The event is free and open to the public, but
space is limited. Register now at http://whro.org/talkaboutrace.
