Productive Saturday afternoon of meetings with participants in the Council of Independent Colleges/Mexican Federation of Private Institutions (FIMPES) collaboration. Started five years ago, the collaborative provides opportunities for student/faculty exchange, consortia and partnerships, innovation in internationalization, and mini-term and summer programs. Pictured with Hal Hartley, CIC Senior Vice President; Rodrigo Guerra Botello, Secretary General of FIMPES, and Troy Hammond, President of North Central College. The group discussed plans for a U.S.-Mexico Higher Education Summit, hosted by our Chicago area members, in April. We also discussed mini-term and summer short courses on the “Eastern Corridor” involving Drew University near New York City in the north and Virginia Wesleyan University in the south, covering areas in between utilizing Northeast Corridor train.
