Dear friends,
The new year has shown lots of love for the liberal arts. Our 2023 January Term offered unique classes and global engagement opportunities for students. The University hosted the 23rd annual Ethics Bowl, presented by the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges (VFIC). The VFIC honored steadfast VWU and private college supporter George Birdsong H'16 at its annual Ethics Bowl Dinner. We commemorated Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a "Weekend of Service" both out in the community and here on campus in the Jane P. Batten Student Center. The holiday culminated in a special keynote address from newly elected State Senator Aaron Rouse.
VWU Online has, once again, been recognized among U.S. News & World Report's "Best Online Programs." We announced the addition of a cheer program in VWU Athletics starting in fall 2023. We are excited to host "Collision on the Coast," an in-person LAN tournament for collegiate Rocket League esports programs later this month. VWU is celebrating 50 years of Title IX with a special presentation from Carol Hutchins, the winningest Division I softball coach of all time.
With so many great things happening on and off campus, we hope you're loving all the wonderful news coming out of Virginia Wesleyan even more this month.
Sincerely,
