Nota Bene: Marlin Softball Sets Record

September 19, 2016

Congratulations to Head Coach Brandon Elliott and the VWC Marlins Softball Team for raising $17,406 for the American Cancer Society through their 2016 Strike Out Cancer event held annually on our campus in honor of Coach Elliott’s mother, Elaine Sears. Proceeds from food sales, an impressive silent auction and other gifts contributed to this overwhelming total which sets a new record for this event.

In addition, the VWC Softball Team took part in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Virginia Beach on June 3, helping to raise more than $283,000. As most of you know, Relay For Life is a community-based, volunteer-driven event that honors survivors and caregivers, remembers those lost to the disease, and fights for a world with more birthdays.

The Marlins will host their Strike Out Cancer Game for the 2017 season on April 8 at Virginia Wesleyan College. You can contact Brandon at belliott@vwc.edu to get involved and for more information. Special thanks to Brandon for all he does to support others in our community.
