Happy Founders Day! Chartered in 1961, Virginia Wesleyan University first opened its doors to students in September 1966. Since its first graduating class of approximately 75 students in 1970, our community has grown to include approximately 1,500 students and nearly 10,000 alumni. Our Founders Day tradition honors the University's establishment, recognizes important individuals in the institution’s history, and celebrates our bold future.
