The true wealth of our nation resides in our people. This month, during
Black History Month, we honor those who have sacrificed much—often
courageously so—in order to make contributions to our society that
benefit us all. We celebrate African-Americans who have enriched our
nation in education, science and technology, literature and the arts,
public service, the fight for freedom and justice, and much more.
A
variety of programs have been planned to celebrate Black History Month
at Virginia Wesleyan. A special series of events began last week with
our Ethics Bowl demonstration—“Ethical Issues in a Multicultural
Society”—and will continue throughout the month of February. Below
you will find a more detailed informational poster.
I encourage
you to learn more about these programs and join the University in
celebrating African-Americans' vital contributions to this country. This
extraordinary history is worth remembering and honoring not just during
Black History Month, but always.
