Nota Bene: President’s Parents Roundtable

We recently hosted our President’s Parents Roundtable members on campus for their Fall Business Meeting and to participate in our Homecoming and Family Weekend activities. We were pleased to welcome our 2017-2018 Co-Chairs John and Karen Winslow, parents of two Virginia Wesleyan seniors.

During the meeting, the Winslows shared their Wesleyan experience and highlighted their daughters’ VWU journeys—from their academic and athletic pursuits to internships and study-away opportunities set in motion by The Lighthouse: Center for Exploration & Discovery. It gives me great joy to know that John and Karen’s daughters are having such a positive and fulfilling experience at Virginia Wesleyan. We are grateful to the Winslows for sharing their time and valuable insight with other parents and our greater community.

The President's Parents Roundtable began as the Parents’ Committee in the fall of 1969. It consisted of 12 parents who, as active friends of Virginia Wesleyan, answered the call to assist the University in a variety of capacities. The committee continued to grow, and several decades later, it serves as an extremely important forum for the exchange of information concerning campus activities and programs. Tiffany Williams of the Center for Advancement serves as staff coordinator.

The tradition of involving parents in the life of the University is essential to student success, resource development, and the future of our institution. We thank each of our President’s Parents Roundtable members for giving back to Virginia Wesleyan University in this meaningful way.
