Nota Bene: An Inspiring Place to Live and Learn

Each day as I arrive on campus, I pause for a moment to appreciate our surroundings. How fortunate we are to call this beautiful space “home." >From the sprawling green fields and lush wooded areas to the meticulous landscaping lining our walkways and embellishing our facilities, Virginia Wesleyan University is truly an inspiring place to live and learn.

I am not the only one who recognizes the exceptional nature of our 300-acre grounds. I am proud to announce that Virginia Wesleyan has once again received an Honor Award from the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) as part of the organization’s 2017 Green Star Awards competition. Award winners were honored during the Society’s annual School of Grounds Management & GIE+EXPO held Oct. 18-21 in Louisville, Kentucky.

This is the fifth consecutive year that Virginia Wesleyan has been recognized as part of the Green Star Awards. The program brings national attention to grounds maintained with a high degree of excellence and complements other national award programs that recognize landscape design and construction.

Special thanks to Bruce Vaughan, Robert Levinsky, Don Coberly, Mike Rigby, and the entire Virginia Wesleyan University grounds staff. Their efforts help us to present our campus in the best possible light, and we are grateful for the outstanding work they do.
