Virginia
Wesleyan University and Tidewater Community College have been good
neighbors, serving Coastal Virginia and Virginia Beach for many years.
To help make Virginia Wesleyan more accessible for Virginia Beach TCC
graduates, we have created the Virginia Beach College Success
Scholarship, which awards full-time students $10,000 per academic year.
The
Virginia Beach College Success Scholarship is designed for students who
complete an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science at TCC while a
resident of Virginia Beach. To be eligible, students must enroll in a
full-time course of study as a traditional day student at Virginia
Wesleyan within one year of graduation from Tidewater Community College. Annual renewal of the scholarship is contingent upon academic performance.
Virginia
Wesleyan and Tidewater Community College are already partners in
offering a streamlined transfer process that allows qualified students
in business, biology, studio arts, criminal justice and education to
work toward their bachelor’s degrees at VWU. This scholarship will
permit many TCC students to attend VWU for less than the cost of
attending area public universities.
I have spoken much in recent
weeks about the importance of affordability for our students. The
Virginia Beach College Success Scholarship is another example of our
continued efforts to make a Virginia Wesleyan University education more
accessible. We have also capped our tuition and fees at their current
level, established the Opus student-work program, created the endowed
Batten Honors College, and expanded our early- and dual-enrollment
programs. In addition, we offer competitive financial aid packages and
other scholarships; 98 percent of our students receive financial aid.
We
are proud to offer this program to Tidewater Community College
students, and we appreciate the strong partnership we have built with
TCC over the years. Learn more about the Virginia Beach College Success
Scholarship at www.vwu.edu/vbcollegesuccess.
