The NEON Festival is a celebration of energy and light in Norfolk’s Arts
District and it happens tomorrow night. Phil Guilfoyle, Professor of
Art and Manager of the Ceramics and Sculpture Studios, and I visited
today with John Rudel, the Batten Associate Professor of Art and Curator
of Exhibitions at Virginia Wesleyan College, as he put the finishing
touches on the "Blue Sky” mural project. Students worked on the mural
as a part of a First Year Experience course that is paired with a
Painting 1 course. The “Marlin Mural Team” is a group of Freshpeople who
expressed interest in the visual arts and are enrolled in this pairing.
