Nota Bene: "Bach & Friends" Tonight in Monumental Chapel

Tonight at 7 p.m. in Monumental Chapel, the Center for Sacred Music will present “An Evening with Bach & Friends” featuring the voices of Virginia Wesleyan Applied Music Specialist Billye Brown Youmans, former student Douglas Lynch, Director of Choral Music Bryson Mortensen, and The Wesleyan Chorale. They will be accompanied by The Wren Masters, the faculty Baroque ensemble of the College of William & Mary, who will perform on period instruments.

The performance is part of the CSM’s Monumental Moments series, which last semester featured “Crowns: Portraits of Black Women in Church Hats” and the “Reforming!” Hymn Festival. Unfortunately, the scheduled Indian dance performance by Padmarani Rasiah Cantu was cancelled, but I am told it is being rescheduled for the fall.

Thank you to Dr. Sandi Billy for her continued coordination of this and several other outstanding offerings in her role as Director of The Center for Sacred Music and Artistic Director of the Virginia Wesleyan University Concert Series. Our forthcoming Susan S. Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center will be a wonderful addition to this programming.
