Norfolk Mayor Kenny Alexander Addresses VWU Political Science Students

Norfolk Mayor Kenneth Cooper Alexander spoke to VWU's first cohort of Batten Honors College students Thursday during Assistant Professor of Political Science Leslie Caughell's "Civil Rights Leadership in Literature" course. He talked about the importance of civic engagement and shared the story of local civil rights leader, Evelyn Butts, who organized in Norfolk and initiated a voting rights case eventually decided by the Supreme Court.
