I'm proud to share that Dr. Nancy T. DeFord has been elected chair of the VWU Board of Trustees, effective July 1. With a long and distinguished career as an educator, Nancy will lead the board during an exciting era for the University, including the opening of the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art at VWU in early 2026, the integration of Sentara College of Health Sciences of VWU, and the full launch of VWU-Chesapeake, our prison education program that was piloted in spring 2025.
