Nota Bene: Emeritus Faculty of Virginia Wesleyan College

December 14, 2015

Last spring, shortly after the announcement that we were coming to Virginia Wesleyan College, I received a note from Professor-Emeritus Rick Hite. He noticed on social media that we had Emeritus Faculty dinners and programs at Bethany College and encouraged me to bring that tradition to VWC. I vowed we would and last Wednesday night, Annie and I enjoyed hosting our first Emeritus Faculty dinner with 19 in attendance.

It was a wonderful evening -- an opportunity to share the status of the College and for Annie and me to learn a bit more about the College’s history and traditions.  We look forward to continuing the Emeritus Faculty dinners in the future.

Criteria for Emeritus Faculty status varies by institution. At Virginia Wesleyan, it is a title conferred by the College for the purpose of recognizing the meritorious service of a faculty member upon or after retirement.
