Nota Bene: New Vice President for Student Affairs Announced

December 16, 2015

With the retirement of David Buckingham, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Keith Moore as vice president for student affairs. Dr. Moore will lead Virginia Wesleyan’s Division of Student Affairs, which includes Campus Security, Counseling Services, Community Service, Health Services, the Jane P. Batten Student Center, Marlin Ministries, Residence Life, Greek Life and Student Activities.

Keith's academic and student life background uniquely qualify him to lead this division. Throughout his career, he has been a strong advocate for students from all backgrounds. His energetic and visionary leadership will be invaluable as we strengthen our commitment to engaged student learning and success.

Keith most recently served as Virginia Wesleyan’s associate vice president for student affairs. He came to the College in 1999 as the assistant director of residence life and director of intramural sports and has held additional roles as director of residence life, coach of the men's and women's cross country teams, and dean of students.

A Boston native, he has also held positions in new student orientation and housing and residence life at University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He has served as president of the Virginia Association of Student Personnel Administrators and taught courses for the Old Dominion University Darden College of Education.

Keith holds an Ed.D. in higher education leadership from Nova Southeastern University. He earned an M.Ed. in educational policy and administration from University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a B.A. in politics and history from Curry College.

He is married to the former Meredith Ann Martin, a school psychologist with Chesapeake Public Schools. They reside in Virginia Beach with their daughter, Jacqueline Rose.
Please join me in congratulating Keith and welcoming him to this critical position in our commitment to student centered learning.
