Nota Bene: CORE Apple Day

October 4, 2016

Today is CORE Apple Day at Virginia Wesleyan. On the way into campus this morning, our employees may be greeted by members of the Campus CORE Wellness Committee who are handing out delicious free apples. Enjoy!

While the scientific merit of the old saying about an apple a day might be up for debate, its symbolism with regards to the importance of a healthy lifestyle shouldn’t be. The health and overall well-being of Virginia Wesleyan employees is a top priority of this institution and a critical component in the success of our mission.

In addition to the College’s comprehensive employee benefits program, we offer a variety of opportunities and tools for faculty and staff to explore healthy lifestyle options and maintain or improve their general health and wellness.

The CORE Wellness Committee organizes Towne Hall information sessions, “beBetter” Challenges, Lunch & Learn events, Weight and Stress Management groups, voluntary Biometric Screenings, and fun annual events like Recess, Pumpkin Carving, Bike to Work Day and more. Be on the lookout for messages and information about these events throughout the year.

I would like to thank our Human Resources Director Karla Rasmussen, Human Resources Assistant and Employee Benefits Coordinator Amy Dudley and the entire Campus CORE Wellness team for their hard work and commitment to this important effort. Have a happy, healthy day at VWC.
