Nota Bene: Celebrating Women's History Month

Women's History Month reminds us that in the fight for social justice and equal opportunity, Americans have many role models who continually inspire us. Some, like Eleanor Roosevelt, broke through barriers to make a difference at critical times in our history. Others, like Oprah Winfrey, have been influential voices in our own time. Our national experience has benefited from these individuals and many others whose commitment to change has been less about them personally and more about their contributions to society. We are reminded that their struggles, while not easy, have yielded lasting benefits for us all.

This March, in celebration of Women's History Month and International Women's Day, Virginia Wesleyan's Women's Resource Center—with support from The Lighthouse and the Department of History—has organized a special series of events. Below I've included a summary of these events, and attached you will find a more detailed informational poster. I encourage you to attend these programs and join the College in celebrating the vital contributions of women throughout history and in contemporary society.
