Nota Bene: Retirement of David Buckingham

October 6, 2015

I write this afternoon to share the news of the retirement of our Vice President for Student Affairs, David Buckingham, effective December 31, 2015.

David first came to Virginia Wesleyan College in 1982 as Dean of Students and Instructor of History. Since that time, he has also had roles as dean of enrollment services and special assistant to the president. During his tenure, he has had responsibilities for overseeing admissions, financial aid, community service, chaplain’s office, student activities, campus security, counselling center, health services, athletics and residence life.

I thank David for his service to Virginia Wesleyan and to the campus community. Please join me in expressing appreciation to David for his dedication and service to Virginia Wesleyan College for the past 33 years. We wish him well as he enters a new chapter of his life.

Effective immediately, Dr. Keith Moore will serve as acting Vice President for Student Affairs during the transition period and will become Vice President for Student Affairs on January 1, 2016. David will assist him in the transition for the remainder of the calendar year.
