Nota Bene: Faculty Team Advisors

Established in 2005, the Faculty Team Advisors (FTA) program is designed to provide support for student-athletes and to facilitate communication between the Faculty and Athletics. The program provides for members of the faculty to be paired with specific sports teams to work collaboratively with coaches and our student-athletes.

Dr. Susan Larkin, Associate Professor of English and Director of the Women's Resource Center, recently sent an email to our campus community about the program. She also shared that there is an opportunity for a member of the faculty to work with the tennis team this year. Dr. Larkin also reported that the last couple of years have been devoted to strengthening the program and adding structure to make it more beneficial for student-athletes, faculty, and coaches.

She described the most important role of the FTA is to build relationships with the student-athletes and to provide help for them in balancing academics and athletics.  Beyond that, she shared, no two faculty members occupy the FTA role in quite the same way. FTAs work with the coach to build a working arrangement that is comfortable and that will benefit all involved.

More about the Faculty Team Advisors Program is on the Athletics website:

The 2015-16 roster of FTAs and coaches is listed below. Thanks to these individuals for taking the time to collaborate for the benefit of our student-athletes. This is just another example of the exceptional things happening here at Virginia Wesleyan College.
