Nota Bene: First Day of Classes for 2016 Fall Semester

August 29, 2016
Because today is the first day of classes for the 2016 fall semester, I wish all students and faculty a great start to what I hope will be an enjoyable and productive semester.

As you know, an essential first step toward academic success is to go to class. Second is to complete all assignments on time, and to seek assistance when needed. Our curriculum is rigorous and our academic goals are high, yet I am confident that taking these initial steps will lead to a successful semester for all.

As freshmen and new students experience their very first day of classes on our campus, I encourage our upperclassmen, as well as all faculty and staff, to help ensure that their experience is meaningful, successful, and enjoyable. Please support and assist them in any way you can—today and every day.

We are especially pleased to welcome back our returning students. I hope your fall semester has a great beginning and that you are as glad to be back on our campus as we are to have you.

My best wishes go out to the entire Virginia Wesleyan campus community for a wonderful fall semester and academic year.
