Nota Bene: Oxford Village Highlighted in Virginia Business

When I arrived at Virginia Wesleyan, I shared vital goals for institutional growth, both in enrollment and infrastructure. Early on, we identified 12.8 acres of University-owned land immediately across from the campus entrance as a logical location for a housing complex. In spring 2016, we selected The Franklin Johnston Group as our partner for the development of the property—now referred to as Oxford Village.

Working with The Franklin Johnston Group, we've completed site analysis, schematic drawings, sought community opinion, and most recently, received rezoning, planning, and City Council approval. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring/summer 2018.

Oxford Village will be named in honor of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism and the namesake of Virginia Wesleyan University, who attended and was laid to rest at Christ Church in Oxford, England. The facility will be designed to house faculty, staff, students—most likely upper-level, graduate, or international students—from Virginia Wesleyan and other nearby organizations.
