Nota Bene: Help Bring Puerto Rican Students to VWU this Spring

Our fundraising efforts continue to help bring college students from Puerto Rico to Virginia Wesleyan this semester. Our goal is to fund full scholarships for five students. We have reached nearly 80 percent of that goal, but we need to raise the remaining dollars to make this possible.

Two events are taking place this week to help get us closer to our goal. Please make plans now to join us for one or both of these special occasions:

Latin Dance Party
Friday, January 26

7:00 p.m. to midnight
Virginia Wesleyan University
Boyd Dining Center
$10 admission includes Latin music and dancing and light refreshments (cash bar); Latin dance lessons will be offered at 7 p.m., and a Tango performance will take place at 8 p.m. (Organized by students in Dr. Mavel Velasco's Winter Session course “Latin American Music and Dance”)
Happy Hour Fundraiser
Saturday, January 27

6:00-9:00 p.m.
De Rican Chef
Authentic Puerto Rican Restaurant
3208 Holland Rd. Virginia Beach 23453
Minimum $10 donation includes discounted food and drinks from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Thank you in advance for your support of this important cause. If you are unable to attend the fundraising events listed above, please consider making a gift online at
www.vwu.edu/giveonline. Gifts should be designated to Annual Scholarships and include "Puerto Rico" in the comments box.
