I’m pleased also to congratulate our newly named Batten Professors for 2017-2020: Thomas Brown, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice/Sociology; Audrey Malagon, Associate Professor of Mathematics; Gavin Pate, Associate Professor of English; Lisa Lyon Payne, Associate Professor of Communication; and Sally Shedd, Professor of Theatre.
The distinction of Batten Professorship has been awarded to Virginia Wesleyan professors since 2004. Recipients of this prestigious honor carry the title for three academic years and are rewarded with special development funding that enhances the quality of teaching on our campus. Congratulations to these outstanding faculty members for this much-deserved recognition.
